The sudden of passing of now NBA Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant not only rattled the basketball community, but the world at large. With over 20,000 people flocking to the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA this past February, the impact Kobe had, not only within basketball, was felt by many.
Most fans of the sport know of his accomplishments on the court, but what made Kobe to be the man many admire and aspire to be are his efforts off the court.
His efforts include the founding of his own philanthropic foundation, Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation (KVBFF), that helps the families of homeless youth and promotes leadership and physical wellness. Many of his charitable donations usually targeted underprivileged youth and after school programs. He also established a youth league known as the Mamba League.
Blessed with four daughters of his own, he was an advocate for women in sports with many WNBA players attributing him to growth of women’s basketball. He not only looked to developing the future in his efforts towards youth organizations but championed them as well. With much value to his name, Kobe used his fame to become an ambassador for several organizations and establish a legacy all his own.
